“The literacy load of science”
Welcome to the page ‘Brian Duckworth: Researcher’
Brian Duckworth has been teaching for some years and has just retired from teaching. He was working as a supply or casual teacher in schools on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. He believes that one of the difficulties involved in teaching and learning science is learning how to interpret and use the language of science.
He is an external, part-time student of the University of Newcastle, where he is working toward a Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education looking at the development of literacy in science in years 5 to 10, in students attending schools on the Sunshine Coast.
“The joy of discovery is certainly the liveliest that the mind of man can ever feel”
